Animals in Entertainment

Often, when we think of animals in entertainment, we imagine elephants, chimpanzees, and other wild species. However, we should remember that all animals, both wild and domesticated, can suffer when put in a position to entertain us.

Horse racing, cockfighting, and dog racing are just three examples of domesticated animals blatantly exploited for people’s enjoyment. Besides the “sport” itself, a host of atrocities occur behind the scenes.

We should also consider the less obvious forms of abusive entertainment. Pony rides, dolphin encounters, horse carriages, and dog sledding are some more ways humans use other species “for fun and profit.”
